The 1129 is a capacitive contact sensor and can detect contact through plastic, glass or paper. We recommend a material thickness of up to 1/2".
The sensor can operate as a close-range sensor and detect objects at a distance of up to 1/2" from the board in all directions without contact.
On the underside of the touch sensor there is a small exposed metal pad. A gel connection can be made with the pad to increase the size and dimensions of the contactable area, such as attaching the sensor to a metallic object or wire. This particular revision of the 1129 has a new sensor chip that recalibrates after 45 seconds of contact (as opposed to 60 seconds in the previous revision). Otherwise this sensor works like the 1129_0.
